Les
Hartley has lived, worked and
played in Yakutat since 1995.
Les brings to Alsek Air
Service his love of flying and
his superb mechanic experience.
He began his journey toward a
career in aviation while in the
U.S. Army working as a
helicopter crew chief, stationed
in the United States as well as
overseas. After being honorably
discharged he returned to
Eastern Washington and attended
A&P School. While living in
Washington he worked for various
cutting edge aircraft
modification companies as a
mechanic and furthered his
flying experience working as a
pilot/mechanic for flying clubs
and skydiving clubs.
When the opportunity to live
and work in Alaska presented
itself early in 1995 he felt it
was a chance he couldn't pass
up. He's been here ever since!
Les is an avid outdoorsman.
He loves to hike, camp, fish and
surf. His passengers benefit
from his extensive knowledge and
wholehearted love of the region.
Wife, Debbie and daughters
Hannah and Lesleigh joined Les
in Yakutat in April 2001 and in
December of that year Alsek Air
Service was born.
While Les flies and takes
care of the maintenance of the
aircraft Debbie holds down the
office. The team is rounded out
with the assistance of the girls
who, after school, wash and
vacuum aircraft and complete
various chores to help maintain
the facility.
Alsek Air Service, Inc. is
