Kayaking in Icy Bay is spectacular. Alsek Air Service, can fly you into Kageet point, where you are only six miles from Guyot and Yahtse Glaciers where you may choose to camp under the watchful eye of Mt. St. Elias, with a view of Chaix Hills and numerous glaciers. Paddle up Taan Fjord to the face of the Tyndall Glacier.
The area is a delight to birdwtachers. In summer, Rufus hummingbirds buzz among the wildflowers on the beach and surf scoters are generally seen swimming in large numbers. The bay also contains one of the world's largest concentrations of the rare Kittlitz's murrelet. Be sure to bring your binoculars.
If you are planning a trip down the Alsek or Tatshenshini Rivers, Alsek Air Service can pick you and your gear up at Dry Bay. Many groups will send most of their people from Dry Bay to Yakutat to meet an Alaska Airlines flight or to catch the ferry. There are also those groups who prefer to have all their members return to Haines or all will go to Yakutat. Any of these options is fine with us.
We provide service to many private raft groups.
